On our last Saturday in California we got to have a BBQ at John & Deb’s house. Our friends Ben, Jen and Griffin came over, Grandpa Ed came up, and we were hanging out waiting for the rest of the Rodgers’ family to arrive. I had just got done changing Gunner’s diaper when I noticed John and Deb’s master bedroom door was open. I walked in to pull it shut when I noticed Karlee standing inside holding a bottle of pills. The little stinker had OPENED the bedroom door (Deb always made sure to shut it) and had CLIMBED up on top of her dresser to take some of Deb’s pills. I asked her how many she had taken and she replied “Nine”…I said “HOW MANY?” she said “Two”…You can see I was going nowhere trying to get information out of a two year old so I asked Deb what she thought we should do. Both she and I weren’t too worried, but decided to call Poison Control just to be safe. After asking wayyyyy too many questions poison control said to take her immediately to the nearest ER so that she could be given a charcoal substance to stop the meds from absorbing into her system…that’s when I turned into a baby and started bawling! Not only would the evening be ruined, but my poor baby would have to take a nasty substance…not fun. Make a long story short the ER was awful and took so long getting us in that she didn’t even get to take the Charcoal substance. After hours of waiting we returned to John & Deb’s to visit with everyone…thankfully everyone was able to stay except for Ben and Jen, who left before we returned :(
Once we were back we ate dinner and spent the rest of the evening visiting and catching up with family. And the Candy man was sure to bring M&M’s for Gunner & Karlee too :)
