Gunner & Karlee's 1st Rodeo

Last night our Church put on a Buckaroo Buck-out for the little ones in our community. With Gunner & Karlee still being 2 we weren't sure if we would enter them in the Muttin Bustin' or not, but after asking them if they wanted to do it we decided we had no choice...they were so excited! When we signed them up, Gunner was #10 and Karlee was #12 (We figured this would give Scott a nice break in between riders to catch his breath!). The rodeo had broke the riders into two groups, 1-10 would go first, then they would give the sheep a break and let the steer riders ride, then the rest of the muttin' busters would ride. Gunner was over in the shoots with Scott literally getting ready to climb over to get on his lamb (And he was SOOOOO excited!!! When he was standing in the shoots he would wave at me and jump up and down, almost like 'Look at me Mommy!') when the ground crew let the sheep out and started loading the steers up. I guess they didn't realize rider #10 hadn't gone yet :( Gunner immediately gets upset that he didn't get to ride and decides he doesn't want to do it anymore. COMPLETE with tears and everything :( After all of the steer riders went and our Church had a Devotional (Wish I would have taped that, I LOVED Mark's message!!!) it was Gunner's turn again. And he DID NOT WANT TO RIDE! But, what kind of parents would we have been if we would have respected his wishes? Not fun ones! So Scott made him do it anyway...and you will see, he was M-A-D!!! After Karlee saw him crying she didn't want to do it anymore either...too bad sweet little girl, if Gunner had to do it so did she! And after the fact they were GLAD they did! Gunner's main problem was he decided he didn't want to ride a lamb, he wanted to ride one of the steers. Scott had to promise him (before he would agree to ride the sheep) that he would catch one of our calves at home and let him ride 'one of these days'...I have a feeling Gunner won't let him forget :)
You will notice I don't have very many pictures of Gunner....at the last minute I decided to flip my flash on since it was so dark, problem was, the flash caused my camera to slow wayyyyyy down. By the time Karlee was up, I decided heck with the flash, so I got a lot more (grainy, awful) pictures.
If you look at the pictures and video you will see (especially on Karlee's) that Scott almost pulls them off. He even said (which I didn't realize until after the fact) that he thinks they would have done MUCH better if he wouldn't have tried to run with them. But since he was trying to protect them and catch them if they fell, I'm happy he did what he did. The next time though, HANDS OFF! Gunner made a .98/second ride and Karlee a 1-second flat ride :) Here's the video:

After the rodeo we stopped at Dairy Queen for a nice treat, which made everything better. At Dairy Queen Scott asked them if they wanted to ride again at the rodeo this upcoming weekend. Both said they did, but Mean-Mommy said NO! They are only 2, and I don't want them to get hurt and be afraid of doing it in the future when they're a little stronger. SO, Scott agreed (smart man!) and said he's going to pick up a lamb at the auction and let them practice so that by the time next year rolls around they can be really good. I can't wait :)

I ordered a couple of the pictures from the official rodeo photographer and will share once they come in. They are priceless because they are from a different angle than I was sitting at. I can't wait for them to arrive!
