Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!
This year for Halloween Gunner & Karlee were MUMMIES! Originally they were going to be baby chics, and I worked SO hard sewing their costumes together, and I was SO excited because they were going to be the CUTEST things ever! Sunday afternoon we decided to try them on and kinda' do a test-run since I would be home by myself dressing them. TERROR-STRUCK! All of a sudden they both started plucking the feathers out of their costumes and eating them-OH NO! I couldn't dress them up as chics if they were going to pluck all of their feathers out...what if they choked! SO Sunday afternoon, less than 5 days until Halloween my babies had NO costumes to wear...I CRIED....I SOBBED....I HYPERVENTALATED! For those of you who don't know, I refuse to dress them in store-bought costumes. My entire life my Mom made my costumes for me. Not a year went by that she didn't sit at her sewing machine and work until the early hours of the morning just so I could have a "unique" costume, better than anyone else's. Because she's no longer here with me it's the one way I can kinda let her legacy live on, which is why I had a meltdown when their original costumes that I had worked so hard on had to be scrapped at the last minute. Anyway, as tears were streaming down my face I think my Mom somehow came to me and gave me the Mummy idea....because other than that I have no idea in the entire world where I got it from. And it worked out perfectly. I was able to use most of the baby chic costumes, so nothing (but the feathers!) was wasted! Getting the munchkins dressed was an entirely differant story. They are SO active and such little wiglets that I knew I needed an extra pair of hands my coworker, Diane came to my rescue and helped me get the kiddos dressed. All in all it worked out....maybe not exactly as I had planned, but I guess that's how life is-nothing ever turns out 'exactly' how we plan it.
Once the mummies were mummified, we went over to our friends, Travis & Holly's house and hung out on Halloween. Gunner & Karlee had a great time showing their costumes off and playing with Kara!
Hope all of you had a happy and safe Halloween.

And here they are hanging out on Daddy's truck and playing with the Pumpkin her carved for them!

  1. I just love the pictures of their cute little faces on daddy's truck! I think your mother would be so proud watching you sew little costumes for your kiddo's. What a wonderful way to pass on your mothers love to them. The train wrecks in our live's usually do end up with the best endings. Happy Halloween!
