California 2010 Vacation: Days 6 & 7

Disclaimer: this is a longgggg post since I combined a couple days worth of fun. :)

The rest of our trip we spent in San Diego with Scott's Mom & Step Dad. When we arrived, we were greeted with a surprise party to welcome us and showing Gunner & Karlee off to everyone down in San Diego. Little did we know, the party wasn't JUST for the kids. Linda had invited some of our 'old' friends and it was so nice! She invited some of the girls I grew up with, Shae & her family (Shae, like me, was an only child who was blessed with Boy/Girl twins!) and Marti & her family (Marti's Hubby is in the military and she JUST had a little girl a couple months ago!). She also invited Scott's friend Brandon and his family (who it was SO nice to meet!) and our friends, Grant, Treva & Lucy!
We had so much fun catching up with everyone and loved getting to meet everyone in the neighborhood. Thank you everyone for coming to meet us and for the kiddos goodies!

The next morning, we got up early and headed to 'The Diner' for breakfast. We've heard about this place since Linda moved down there, and it did NOT dissapoint! Diners, Drive in's and Dives visited last year (I think!), so I had to get the Monte Cristo sandwich...a deep-friend ham/cheese sandwich you dip in rasberry preserves...and they said Texans like to fry stuff! After breakfast we headed for a fun day at the San Diego Zoo! I should have been born a monkey, so I felt right at home. Treva & Lucy met us too! You will see a couple pics with an elephant...that was SO COOL! We just happened to be walking by and the trainer was walking by and asked if we had ever seen an elephant swim before. We said no, and she asked if we wanted to. A show wasn't even scheduled, but we said yes anyway. So she went inside, grabbed a bucket full of veggies and started calling the elephants in, and in they came! One especially came right in the water and gave us a little show! She swam, and blew water at us and played with a ball. Never in my life have I seen such a thing! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. A Once in a lifetime chance!!!

After a couple hours of fun, we headed back home to get dinner ready and get the guys packed for their fishing trip. Before we left to head to the fishing docks, Papa, Uncle Brad & Ben showed up and the boys snuck upstairs to wake G&K up....they were sooooo happy to see them!!!
We then loaded up and headed to the fishing docks to check out the boat and blow kisses to the fishermen! Before we sent them out to sea, we were allowed to get on the boat for some pictures and to check the place out. They even let the kids play with some of the bait fish! When it was time for the guys to set sail, the kids did NOT want to leave. Gunner sat himself down on the floor of the boat and said he was a "big boy and fishing with him's Daddy" So needless to say, but the time we pried him off of the boat he was very sad! Scott has promised that SOMEDAY he will take him. While the guys were out to sea they saw a pretty neat dolphin show. Scott joked, he didn't need to go to Sea World with us, he had Sea World up close and personal! He also melted my heart a little bit...while out to sea he spotted a tiny rainbow and thought enough to snap a picture of it, what a sweetheart I am married to!
The guys had a great time. Didn't catch hardly any fish, but I don't think that's why they go anyway!
