California Dreamin'

We made a banzai trip to the lovely sunny state of California last weekend, and when I say banzai, you have NO IDEA! Here's a quick run-down: We left Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon, drove all day long, all night long and all day long to arrive in California at about 2pm Friday. We surprised Scott's Dad at work (so fun!) then surprised Deb at work (so fun too!) then headed to their house to take a quick shower. (Did I mention we hadn't slept since Thursday morning yet?!?!) Then we headed to a dress rehearsal dinner (Scott's best friend Travis was getting married, hence the reason for this crazy trip!). Had a delicious dinner at AJ Spur's (one of my favorites!) and got to hang out with Scott's Mom and Step-Dad! After the dress rehearsal my cousin Amy and Katy picked Scott and I up and we headed out to do some dancin' at the bar's in Paso Robles. (I miss that place, and I MISS those girls!!!) We did wayyy too much drinking and the girls and I got up and did some karaoke (we rocked out to "I like Big Butts and I cannot lie"...fitting huh?!?!) by about 2am (4am Texas time) I was DONE! So we headed back to Scott's Dad and Deb's house to "sleep in" because the kids were having a slumber party with their Grandma & Baja. HA! By 8am I was wide awake, NOT COOL! So we relaxed a little then got ready and headed to our niece's birthday party. Let me just stop to say nothing has made me feel THIS old in a long time than going to her 9th birthday party. Scott and I had only been dating a short while when she was born and I was lucky enough to be in the waiting room and peak at her when she was born all of those years ago. I can't BELIEVE that teeny baby has grown into such a sweet and wonderful girl! At the party Gman and KJ got to play with water balloons, water guns, hit the pinata and fill up on cake. While we were there Scott's Uncle Rich (from Houston!) pulled up and surprised us all! (SO good to see him!)
After the party we loaded up and headed up to King City to do a QUICK visit of a bunch of my friends and family. We got to see Jim and Kathy, my Aunt Wendy, my cousin Tom, Pat and Michele and my good friend Alyson. Each person we were only able to spend a minute with but that minute was AMAZING!
On our way back down to Paso we took a slight detour and stopped in at my Grandma's ranch to surprise her and my Auntie Karen. SOOOOOO nice to see them! Then it was back in the car to speed to town to get ready to make it to the wedding. I seriously don't think I have ever gotten ready so fast in my LIFE! On our way to the wedding we stopped in at Scott's brother's house to see my other niece, Marisa, get ready for her 8th grade dance. OH MY GOSH did that girl look BEAUTIFUL and SO grown up. (This would be another moment in my life where I felt really old. Guess I'd better get used to that feeling since it seems to be happening more and more lately!) Then we headed to Travis and Erin's wedding and what a beautiful wedding it was. Travis looked so handsome and Erin was gorgeous. Every last detail was magnificent too!
We hung out with friends and danced all night long. After another longgggg night we crawled into bed at about 3:30 am (5:30 Texas time). Before we knew it the kiddos were waking us up and it was time to get on the road and head back to Texas :( On our way through we stopped off and had breakfast with my Grammie and Aunt. While we were there Amy and LindaKay showed up to give us one last hug and send me home with a kitten. (Yup, we drove all the way home...30 HOURS with a cat in the car!!!)
When we got to Bakersfield we stopped and gave quick hugs to some friends from college, Denise and her family who we love and adore!
Luckily Linda rode home with us and helped drive (a LOT) because after our wild weekend Scott and I were TIRED!!! At one point as we were driving through the desert it was 117 degrees (We took a picture). We also got to stop at In N Out to have one last California treat before making that long 30 hour drive home.
We had such a great time, but after a weekend full of fun, family and friends we were happy to finally be home Monday evening.
..I said this was going to be a "quick" run-down but have you ever known me to be quick?!?! Sorry, we just had wayyyy too much fun!
