Grant, Treva and Lucy Martin came to see us this past week! (Scott met Grant and Treva when he first went to college in Coalinga, CA way back in 1999. Treva took Scott in and introduced him to Rice-a-Roni and to this day whenever we have Rice-a-Roni Scott is sure to point out that it’s “not as good as when Mama-Treva makes it!”) They drove all the way from San Diego pulling our new tractor! Okay, it’s not really “our” tractor…Grant & Treva are amazingly generous, and are letting us use the tractor until they need it again (I’m secretly hoping they’ll just move to Texas, so then this will be one less thing they have to move when they pack up and head our direction!) They brought their newborn, Lucy with them and she is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She’s almost 3 months old and has to be the BEST baby I’ve ever been around (Yes, even better than my double-trouble!) They arrived Tuesday and then headed back this morning (Monday) and I think I actually heard Lucy cry maybe 3 times the entire visit. She’s just such a mellow baby, and Treva is such a great Mommy that nothing upsets Lucy. She’s happy doing whatever and is SO easy going. We LOVED having them here. Poor Grant… Scott worked his butt off. Scott absolutely LOVED having him here because Grant is someone who can do ANYTHING! If it’s broken, he can fix it. If it can be built, he knows how to build it. I think Grant will be happy to leave just so he can relax! The guys (Grant) started shredding the pasture and got the front gates hung on our new pipe fence. Karlee loved Lucy, and couldn’t understand why Lucy wouldn’t play with the toys that she offered her. As with all of our company, we were so sad to see them go. The house will be so lonely when we get home this evening. Karlee won’t have Grant to flirt with at the dinner table and Gunner won’t have Treva to show off for when he walks across the living room! We are so lucky to be surrounded by such loving, caring friends and hope that we’ll be able to repay them for their generosity someday.

In other news, Karlee has now mastered the art of throwing a temper-tantrum. Gunner got the temper tantrum down a couple weeks ago, and even though it’s clear to see that he doesn’t get his way even when he does decide to fall to the ground screaming, it must look like fun to Karlee because she’s giving him a run for his money. Scott and I aren’t at all amused, but our ignoring them when they throw their fits doesn’t seem to phase them at all. We can only hope this is a short-lived phase and they grow out of it very quickly :)

I don't believe that those sweet babies could ever throw a fit! I think they are perfect!
ReplyDeleteI just love how Karlee carries that tape measure around! Karlee and Gunner are just too adorable for words. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
